City of Eagan is suing IronGate Data Center (Dakota County)

Sun This Week reports...

The city of Eagan is suing data center company Eagan Capital LLC, due to alleged code violations at IronGate Data Center, according to Mayor Mike Maguire’s update at the Nov. 2 City Council meeting.

“The city is taking legal action regarding the continued operation of four temporary chillers at the Eagan Capital facility at 3199 Pilot Knob Road. Eagan Capital has been operating without the required permits and approvals. The city is currently in the process of filing a complaint with the court, and will then file a motion for an injunction to stop the operations of the chillers,” Maguire said.

“We will continue to follow the legal process to ensure our regulations are enforced consistently. We will provide additional information when there are developments that can be shared publicly,” Maguire added.

Local residents who live north of the data center facility across Tower View Road have complained of noise and vibrations from the chillers and have waited a long time for this process to take place, Maguire said.

This isn’t the only lawsuit regarding data centers in Eagan.

Eagan Capital filed a lawsuit June 15 against Eagan to void the city’s one-year data center moratorium, calling it unlawful and ill-advised.

The City Council unanimously passed a moratorium on development of new data centers within 500 feet of residential homes or that use more than 20 megawatts of electricity. The moratorium is active until Feb. 17, 2027, or earlier if the council decides to end it.
