New Mayor in Pine Island makes Google data center part of his workplan (Goodhue County)

Post Bulletin reports...

A new mayor in Pine Island hopes to bring a new direction to the city’s biggest issue: the proposed Google data center.

Mark E. Lang earned 66.4% of the vote Tuesday, Nov. 3, during the city’s elections. Brandi Veith Staloch, who took over last summer when former mayor David Friese stepped down, earned 32.9% of the vote, unofficially.

Lang, who said he wanted to get a better deal for the city when it came to the data center, will be joined by at least one new city council member, Tosca Wohl.

He will need help…

All three available seats — the two council seats and the mayoral post — would have had to be swept by those opposed to the data center in order to flip the balance of power in Pine Island.
