Thanks to my dad for sending me the recent article on Google and the Spectrum Auction (Google gearing up for wireless spectrum bid: report).
The fact that Google is bidding on the spectrum is no shock. They spelled out their laundry list of changes they needed to the auction for the FCC and the FCC changed enough of those things to qualify them.
The article mentioned that Google was preparing to bid without partners – which was news to me. Also Google is running a test version of an advanced wireless network at its Mountain View, California headquarters.
The Spectrum bid is really just a couple of months away!
yes its no surprise they will go on there own,they bought out a firm a couple years ago which makes femtocells which can help expand a network.Also the 700 spectrum is being auctioned in the early 2008 but its not going to be open fully for use until mid 2009 when the tv people move out of that analog set up to digital.Just another happening to show the direction major firms are moving and there thinking of a mobile world.

On a side note I think that in Dublin they are doing a better job of warning people about the move to HDTV than we were doing in MN.
yes i think a lot of areas are being kept in the dark on the move actually to digital not high def .it is something that actually the companies should be placing on there programming as an ad
