KTTC reports

Google will host a community celebration Wednesday for its proposed data center project in Pine Island.

Google is expected to announce the project’s “Panther Program” and other initiatives benefiting the Pine Island School District with a projected amount of $24 million.

The proposed data center has sparked debate in Pine Island as residents raise concerns over energy consumption and environmental impacts.

The event will feature live music, food and family activities from 4 to 8 p.m. at Trailhead Park.
