After nearly a year and a half of working through the details and legalities, a use agreement between the city of Willmar and Hometown Fiber for a city-owned fiber network is ready for Council consideration.
In February 2023, the Willmar City Council first approved moving forward in drafting a contract with Hometown Fiber to construct a city-owned fiber network that would be the “best in the state.”
After many meetings and updates over the past year — and the due diligence of city staff and multiple consultants — that agreement is finally ready for Council consideration at its Monday, Aug. 5, meeting.
The meeting takes place at 6:30 p.m. in the boardroom at the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services building, 2200 23rd Street Northeast.
