USI offers new Affordable Connectivity Plan of $25 for customers in the Twin Cities

USI Affordable Connectivity Plan

USI Fiber is committed to providing all community members access to an affordable and reliable internet connection. Recognizing the importance of internet connectivity in today’s digital world, USI Fiber is introducing a reduced-cost internet service program for individuals and families who meet income requirements. This program aims to bridge the digital divide and ensure equal access to essential online resources for underserved populations.

Eligibility

Households must meet income eligibility requirements as defined by the program guidelines. Eligibility is determined based on household size and total annual income. Applicants must reside within the USI Fiber service area.

Benefits

Qualified households will receive a significant discount on USI Fiber’s standard internet service plans. The discounted rate will provide high-speed internet access at an affordable price. Additionally, eligible customers may qualify for free or low-cost equipment, such as modems and routers, to facilitate their internet connection.

How much does it cost?

$25/month

  • 500 Mbps including router rental  ($40 credit shown on the invoice)
  • Router/Wireless experience ($5 credit plus tax shown on the invoice)

$35/month

  • 1 gig ($40 credit shown on the invoice)
  • Router/Wireless experience ($5 credit plus tax shown on the invoice)

How do you qualify?

Proof of your or your dependent’s program participation in:

  • Medicaid
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
  • Federal housing assistance
  • Veterans Pension or Survivor’s Benefit

Provide a document that includes:

  • Your name, or your child or dependent’s name
  • The name of the program, such as SNAP
  • The name of the government, Tribal entity, or program administrator that issued the document
  • An issue date within the last 12 months or an expiration date in the future.

Common Examples Include:

  • A benefit award letter
  • A statement of benefits
  • A benefit verification letter
  • A screenshot of the online benefits portal

Application Process

Interested individuals and families can apply for the reduced-cost internet service program by simply calling 612-444-1888 to have a USI Customer Care representative take you through the process. The application process involves submitting proof of income, household size, and other relevant documentation. Applications will be reviewed and processed quickly, and successful applicants will be notified within 24 hours.

Service Activation

Once an application is approved, USI will activate the internet service and schedule an appointment to install any necessary equipment if required. Installation and activation fees may be waived or reduced for eligible customers.

Ongoing Support

USI Fiber provides ongoing customer support to ensure a seamless internet experience for program participants. Customers can access technical support, troubleshooting assistance, and billing inquiries through various phone, email, and SMS Text messaging channels.
