Minneapolis St Paul Business Journal features Arvig…
Arvig’s fiber network has grown to more than 16,500 route miles throughout Minnesota and is growing at a rate of at least 1,000 route miles per year. Arvig annually invests millions of dollars into new network construction, location-specific builds and existing infrastructure upgrades to steadily increase available speeds, build capacity and scale the network to handle higher bandwidth needs.
This year, in addition to making 100 Gbps services available network-wide, Arvig’s network is expanding 200 gig to 400 gig availability in more regions – with many sites live today.
Service of up to 400 Gbps is now offered in the greater Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area, and into central and southern Minnesota, including regional hubs St. Cloud and Rochester. Arvig is prepared for the future with a network backbone supporting speeds of 400 Gbps to 800 Gbps.
Arvig is uniquely positioned to provide broadband connectivity wherever customers need it in Minnesota, either through its own expansive network or by leveraging long-standing partnerships with other carriers.
With scalability beyond 1 terabit per second (Tbps), the network includes nearly 300 points of presence (PoPs) throughout Minnesota. Arvig PoPs are strategically placed across the region to ensure efficient network traffic flow, reduce congestion and provide interconnectivity to other networks. Diverse fiber routes ensure services are highly available.
They mention the participation in A-CAM…
In late 2023, Arvig elected to enroll in the federal Enhanced Alternative Connect America Model (A-CAM) program.
Through this federal program, Arvig will invest in network projects across dozens of rural communities in the coming years to bring high-speed internet to thousands of households in the region. Arvig is on track to easily meet the higher speed targets, of up to 100 Mbps/20 Mbps, with many eligible areas planned to receive access to internet speeds up to 8 Gbps.
