Senator Smith sponsors bill to support remote mental telehealth access

KMIT reports

Access to health care in rural areas can be a challenge for Medicare patients, with long drives to providers and health issues that reduce mobility.  A new bill in Congress would eliminate the in-person requirement for Medicare recipients who are seeking mental telehealth visits.

The Telemental Health Care Access Act would permanently eliminate the face-to-face requirements for telehealth visits for mental health appointments.

The bill has bipartisan support from Democratic Senator Tina Smith and South Dakota Republican John Thune.

Now we just need to make sure they have the broadband to make it work!
