MN Legislature looking at tax exemptions for fiber deployment

We’ve all been closely watching the Minnesota ag bill, which included $100 million for broadband grants and passed in both the House and the Senate. We can also be watching the Tax bills, which are recommending tax exemptions for companies buying fiber. The language that was introduced last year by Senator Westrom and co-authored by Senator Rest. The provision will be part of the Senate and House conference committee process.

Section 3. Fiber and conduit; broadband and Internet access. Exempts fiber and conduit purchased or leased for use directly by a broadband or internet service provider primarily in the provision of broadband or internet access services that are ultimately sold at retail. Effective for sales and purchases made after June 30, 2023.
