Senator Westrom Presents Rural Broadband Bill

According to the Voice of Alexandria

On Monday, February 27, Senator Torrey Westrom [R-Elbow Lake] presented his rural broadband grant bill in the Senate Committee on Jobs and Economic Growth. The measure funds grants for local telecommunication companies to expand broadband internet service in greater Minnesota. Not only does the legislation appropriate money to increase border-to-border broadband development, but it also modifies the current law to invest in more projects and prioritize unserved areas.

“Establishing rural broadband is crucial to continued economic development in greater Minnesota,” said Senator Westrom. “By investing in infrastructure in unserved and underserved areas, we’re committed to advancing rural economic opportunities.”

I posted notes and video from the Committee session last week.
