Broadband summit in Preston on August 10

A County Broadband Alliance Summit is being planned for Wednesday, Aug. 10, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the F&M Community Bank in Preston.

City leaders, committee board members, school officials and residents are invited to learn about Fillmore County’s efforts to improve broadband internet connectivity throughout the county and investments being made in this critical resource to make Fillmore County an attractive place to live, work and do business.

Presenters will include representatives from the county’s Economic Development Authority (EDA), the state’s Office of Broadband Development, experts in rural business and broadband development and local and regional providers. Another of the speakers will be discussing how communities can take the initiative to increase speeds into their own hands.

Public input will be welcome and encouraged.
