Kanabec County: community portal up and running & telework center planned

KarlSamp2Thanks to Karl Samp for the update on broadband adoption activities in Kanabec County (a Blandin Broadband Community)…

Last week, The Kanabec County Steering Committee (KBI) met to discuss progress on their projects. Discussions are being held and will continue to be held regarding expansion of access to the rural areas of the county.

The community portal, http://dala.mn/ is up and running and getting good content and use. The LEC center had its second event, which featured a Great Barrier Reef video tour and real time interaction. More than 70 were in attendance. The LEC also has now received their computers and will be ready for classes on computer/internet use.

Community Wi-Fi sites are being identified and installing will begin in the near future. We toured the future tele-work center and heard about exciting plans for that. It is a big project, with many details and partnerships to work through. The Fergus Falls presentation and resource from the ECBB summit was very helpful.

Business training classes were held with Ann Treacy with good turnout and great response.
