Thanks to Karl Samp for the update on Lake County’s broadband initiative. They are a Blandin Broadband Community…
Lake County continues to impress with their enthusiastic approach to providing broadband access across their county, while planning for better utilization of that access once it is in place. They have completed seven YouTube videos telling stories of how broadband can improve local quality of life, and businesses’ profitability. Several more are on the way.
Through Community Ed., 73 classes have been held or are scheduled, so far serving over 200 residents and businesses. New tablets in the schools are allowing students to learn in new exciting ways, and at the same time, those same students are teaching older residents how the internet can improve their lives.
The broadband group met last week. They are very excited about what next. Also, North Shore Area Partners will continue to work with seniors through additional training, and the local food shelf will help patrons conduct on-line assessments to help them determine if they might qualify for other services to help them make ends meet.
