Minnesota rates broadband providers – definitely above average

Connect Minnesota recently released a report on consumer broadband satisfaction in Minnesota. Here are the highlights…

mn bb satisfaction - wired

mn bb satisfaction - cell

In short, people are pretty happy about reliability of service (82%) – less so with mobile (64%) and not as happy with monthly price (43% for wired and 42% for mobile).

Just to put it in perspective – here’s how Connect Minnesota ranked service in Minnesota compared to the US Average:

  • US Average Monthly Bill $38.25
  • US Average Download Speed 4.8 Mbps
  • MN Average Monthly Bill $44.48
  • MN Average Download Speed 6 Mbps

So we are a little faster than average and we are more expensive than average.

I have to add that ironically, my wireline access disappeared as I was posting this and I had to switch to a wireless option. In fairness, my wireline account, while not as fast as I’d like, rarely completely disappears!
