Global Trends in Broadband Presentation

Thanks to everyone who attended the Blandin Foundation Webinar: Global Trends in Broadband. I think we had almost 30 people participate – including community leaders, consultants, and tech experts.

Bill Coleman, the presenter, did a great job. He inspired me to learn a little bit more about GPON versus EPON, which I’ll report once I get time to do the research. (Please note that we have 2 more webinars planned this month!)

Here is the presentation for those who weren’t able to attend and for those who asked to see if again:

  1. I missed this even though I was entirely ready and looking forward to it. I did not have access to the dial in or access code number numbers until 8:45 which, I felt, was too late to interrupt. I will try to recover what I can from the slides but I’m so sorry to have lost so much content. I’m certain it was excellent. I do communications for Blandin PPE.

  2. I’m sorry to hear that you missed the session. Just in case it happens again I’ll let you know that it’s very easy to “sneak into the back pew” of the online conference.

    Thanks! Ann

  3. Thanks to Kathy Coyle from USDA Rural Development in Detroit Lakes for sending this update.

Notice of Funds Available for the Long Distance Learning/Telemedicine Grant Program in USDA Rural Development
This was posted in April 2007 and the proposals were due in June.
The following news release was issued recently (October 1, 2007) reporting the recipients so this will give you an idea of what to probably expect in 2008.

It is never too early to start creating a good proposal! You will see the contact information at the end of the NOFA. My colleagues and I are not the contact person for this program in MN but the national office person listed can put you in contact with the upper midwest rep for the Long Distance/Telemedicine program.
