BEAD updates + resources

OBD staff attended the Broadband Leaders Summit last month in New Orleans. The two-day event provided the opportunity to connect with to other state broadband leaders and understand key takeaways from the recent BEAD funding round in Louisiana. OBD will continue to post updates on the BEAD program in Minnesota as they area available on the OBD webpage.

Governor’s Task Force on Broadband, November meeting recap + December 17 meeting

The Governor’s Task Force met at the DEED Headquarters in St. Paul, MN on Tuesday November 26, 2024. The Task Force heard updates from the Office of Broadband Development on BEAD and Digital Opportunity Updates. OBD also presented on the Line Extension Connection Program. The Task Force worked as a whole on the draft of the annual report.

For December, the Task Force will meet again at the DEED Headquarters in St. Paul, MN at 10 a.m. Central Time on Tuesday December 17. The meeting will have virtual as well as in-person options for attending and is open to the public. More information on this and past meetings can be found on the Broadband Task Force webpage.

Upcoming broadband events

The Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) will be hosting Connecting Minnesota: A Forum on Broadband Development & Workforce next month, Thursday January 9. The event will be at the Minnesota Laborers Training Center in Lino Lakes, MN, and will provide the opportunity to learn directly from facility owners and state leaders how to prepare your workforce and infrastructure projects for these new requirements.
