The Grand Forks Herald reports on upgrades with Arvig…
Arvig, a broadband and full-service telecommunications provider, says it has successfully completed an equipment upgrade that makes its network fully compatible with WiFi 6.
In recent months the company has announced work to enhance its fiber network and other projects in the region, including the now completed effort to expand its WiFi abilities.
WiFi 6, the latest generation of mobile connectivity, targets an increase in throughput of as much as 40% for supported wireless devices and is backwards compatible with previous generations, according to the company.
Additionally, the standard allows for as much as a four-fold increase in wireless performance in dense environments –settings such as apartment buildings, airports and stadiums. WiFi 6 is expected to offer improvements in not only signal range and reliability, but also increase network efficiency and extended battery life for supported IoT devices.
WiFi 6 will help the network in your house (or campus, or coffee shop) run better and faster.
