I am doing the annual look at broadband in each county – based on maps from the Office of Broadband Development and news gathered from the last year.
Grant County has slipped from 55 to 65. Part of the issue is that while access to slower broadband (25/3) has increased, access to 100/20 has not increased since last year. Improvements that are being made are not keeping pace with future needs and goals.
Info on Access:
Speeds | % served 2017 | % served 2018 |
25/3 | 75.73 | 87.85 |
100/20 | 39.93 | 39.93 |
The speeds reflect the Minnesota speed goals:
- 25 Mbps down and 3 up by 2022
- 100 Mbps down and 20 up by 2026
Current ranking for 100/20 access: 65
