I’ve been hearing from folks on the front lines. Today I have a note from Josh from Makinen…
I moved to Makinen MN from Virginia because I wanted to raise my kids in the country as I was raised. We had high-speed always available internet in Virginia.
Where we are now, we had satellite internet for a short while but got rid of it because it was expensive for slow service that was very limited.
Without a quality high speed connection my sons are not able to do their school work online with their school issued iPads. My wife and I would both like to go back to school but with our busy lives it would have to be online, which we cannot do. We never would have purchased the house we did if we had known there was no internet and in fact we are looking to move. The internet isn’t the only factor in moving but it certainly factors.
For readers outside of Minnesota. Virginia is a town of 8,500. According to the 2010 Census – Makinen is 554. It is 18 miles southeast of Virginia.
