I wanted to share the following invitation. As always I’d love to see great participation in Minnesota. While this is targeting schools and teachers, I think we could all think about how to promote digital learning on Feb 5. I might fore my kids to watch my “Protecting your Online Reputation” presentation or help a friend learn hot to better use their smartphone or take an hour to learn how to use my own GoogleGlass. Nothing saying this has to be K-12 digital learning. In fact I think one of the best things about digital learning is that it makes lifelong learning so much easier.
With a few short weeks until Digital Learning Day, I encourage you to help us spread the word about this important grassroots movement to improve education with the effective use of technology. With your help, we can make a real difference and let our voice be heard on February 5, 2014!
If you haven’t done so yet, please “Take the pledge to make a difference with digital learning” right now. It’s takes less than 30 seconds to show your support! You can lead a groundswell of Digital Learning Day activities in your local area with these three easy steps:
1) Take the pledge and encourage others to do the same.
2) Add your activity to our national list and map of events.
3) Spread the word using the following resources and ideas:
- Send a dedicated email using the sample email and any of the four advertisements to urge people to take the pledge to “Make a difference with digital learning.” Get teachers and parents involved!
- Create a webpage on your schools site encouraging other educators and administrators to join this effort. Participation is easy with free interactive lessons (more coming soon), tools and toolkits, as well as great ideas for planning an activity.
- Embed a link to a student video and a teacher video in an appropriate place on your site by simply posting a graphic back to our site to show your support.
- Use the newsletter and website blurb to share your involvement with your constituencies.
- Use the sample tweets attached and any of the images on our “bright spots” page to promote your participation.
Swag Shop: Our “swag shop” has promotional gifts you can buy to support your school-based activities. We’ll pay the set-up fees for all orders that come in by COB THIS Wednesday, and the items are being offered at our cost. February 5th is going to be a very big day!
