Dakota County Library RFID

I was on a conference call with Robert Bell (from the Intelligent Community Forum) and the MIRC (Minnesota Intelligent Rural Communities) yesterday when Robert mentioned that broadband itself isn’t valuable – it’s what you can do over it that matters. I know this RFP is too late for folks to bid on  – but not to late to read for a glimpse of what folks are planning to do with broadband in Dakota County.

Late last year, Dakota County posted a RFP (Request for Proposal) for an RFID system in the library

The purpose of this RFP is to secure a Contractor to assist the Dakota County in implementing RFID technology into its check-in and check-out operations at all Library locations.

Broadband makes it possible to centralize an RFID check-in/check-out system rather than having systems st each library site. It’s a time saver for patrons and a potential staff time/budget saving for the County.
