I think I have actually mentioned these guys before – but I just got a fun email-video magazine from Noblesville IN. (You can see it here.)
I think this is a good use of technology to promote a community. I was with the Blandin Broadband team earlier today and we were talking about how to shift from promoting broadband to promoting the impact that broadband can have. I think this is a simple example – there’s no mention of broadband but when a community creates an online video you make some assumptions about their tech aptitude.
I used to work with schools and educators and I remember the shift that we had to make from having a “computers or Internet” class to integrating technology into all of the classes. I think we need to think about how to make that shift with communities.
It’s not enough these days just to be e-commerce ready or to have fiber or WiMax installed – the question is what are you doing with it? How is it making life better or easier?
