Clay County Broadband Profile: current ranking 19

I am doing the annual look at broadband in each county – based on maps from the Office of Broadband Development and news gathered from the last year.

Clay County has improved their broadband ranking; going from 22 to 19 with 83 percent coverage. Clay County was listed as one of the 9 worst served counties in 2010; since then they have been continually improving.

They may see more improvements with $1.5 million USDA loan going into the area for smartgrid development.

Info on Access:

Speeds % served 2017 % served 2018
25/3 83.15 95.45
100/20 74.13 82.52

The speeds reflect the Minnesota speed goals:

  • 25 Mbps down and 3 up by 2022
  • 100 Mbps down and 20 up by 2026

Current ranking for 100/20 access: 19
