Little Falls is getting Fiber

According to the Morrison County Record

Consolidated Telephone Company (CTC) in Brainerd has begun installing fiber optics in Little Falls. Local businesses have been asking their providers for more bandwidth and CTC has stepped forward to provide it.

It sounds like the upgrade is quite a public-private effort…

Andy Isackson, marketing manager at CTC, said some of the Little Falls businesses who needed more speed with large amounts of data were the instigators in  getting fiber optics to town.

Community Development of Morrison County Director Carol Anderson said some of the $500,000 to get this project off the ground came from the Initiative Foundation, Region 5 and from Community Development. A loan was made to the Economic Development Authority who owns the fiber optics in Little Falls. It is now leasing the system to CTC.

“CTC was already in Little Falls with some businesses, the schools and limited residential customers,” said Isackson. “It was a costly endeavor to increase the fiber optics, so we partnered with several businesses to get it into Little Falls.”
