I think having neighbors who are interested in broadband helps. I just heard from someone near Moose Lake that said that they got 100 people (I think it was 100) to sign a petition saying they were all interested in broadband and that did get the incumbent interested in their area.

I think that’s where I’d start – talk to providers around your area. If that doesn’t work maybe you can talk to local officials about your situation. Maybe there are enough of you to start thinking about how else to get broadband to your area.

Where are you located? Maybe there are folks reading the blog who can help more directly.

I don't know if this broadband package will help me. Where I live I'm too far away from town to get DSL or cable internet. But I'm only about 4/5ths of a mile away from people who can get those services. So the only internet I can get is dial-up or satellite. I've had satellite for a couple years now, and half of the time its slow. It's ridiculous, if there is one too many clouds in the sky thats all she wrote, I have to wait for another day. Also I've had a guy come out to my house and check to make sure the satellite is working properly and it is. So will this broadband package allow me to get the high speed internet everyone else has, or will I be stuck with slow satellite. Plus the thing that stinks the most is I can't get Xbox Live. Another thing there are quite a few people around me that would probably get DSL or cable if it was availible, so will that help my chances any?
