USDA Getting Rural Minnesota Online by 2010

A recent article in the AgriNews (Rural communities considered key to strong U.S. economy) mentions that the USDA is “hoping to have broadband access to all farms and other modern technologies by the year 2010, particularly in northwestern Minnesota.”

The author was reported on a panel discussion that was part of FarmFest in August that included both Steve Wenzel, the USDA Rural Development state director and Dan McElroy, the commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.

It’s not big news – but it’s nice to see that broadband is getting so much airplay these days at agricultural events and with folks who focus on economic development.
